He's certainly not wrong. Photographic and video evidence make abundantly clear Uke is playing DL in camp and coaches have explicitly discussed his DL transition. Even if Uke switches back to OL SamuelMcF is not wrong. It's possible the transition is somewhat experimental and the official site is waiting for confirmation, or that we're being sneaky and looking to unveil Uke as a secret weapon on DL, but much more likely in my view is that the roster is wrong. Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.

I also switched sophomore Austin Uke from OG to DL, as reflected on the official roster.

I've always thought it was sort of weird that they list three receivers and a fullback as starters, though I understand they may start out in one or the other formation. At any rate, I reluctantly listed three receivers and a fullback as starters, even though that makes twelve starters on offense.

Likewise, they are now listing the nickelback as a starter, making twelve starters on defense as well, though I realize that we play out of the nickel package quite a bit, which is good considering the quality of our front seven. Anyway, I listed all twelve there as well.

I also added other positional responsibilities listed on depth chart (kick returner, punt returner, holder). Interestingly, they no longer list who handles kickoffs.

That is helpful to try to instill a competitive walk-on culture by leaving open the possibility for the best walk-on to be converted, as well as to help navigate the off-season scholarship crunch (an extra fifth year player returning, for instance). It's impossible to know now where that edge case will be four months from now but it is highly likely to be more significant than a 0-12 snap player (who given Taylor was much more likely to be on the low end of that spectrum).

His sophomore year, he played in 11 games, in 10 games his junior year, and started five games in the shortened 2020 season as a senior, when he earned a scholarship. But last year he only played in five games as a backup and on ST.
  
• Safety Patrick Fields, 5th year, was one of three starting safeties, and had three tackles. It seems strange to post his name among the walk-ons, but he is officially not on scholarship (unless, they give him one of the aforementioned two). Last year he was HM All-Big-12!
  
• ILB Jason Kaul, sr., played in ten games last season; he has been a solid contributor. Against Colgate, he got two tackles - the first tackles of his Stanford career. Woot!
