The talent at Arizona vs. Stanford is pretty equal. Watkins makes either a multi-championship contender. How each program helps her brand and NIL career might play a big factor.
She would be a Caitlin Clark at USC. Gottlieb is certainly the coach to orchestrate things to revolve around a star player and go for broke.
South Carolina has been so impressive, they've earned everyone's attention. It would be hard to decline an invitation to visit and at least hear them out. Not sure how realistic it would be for her to actually go there.

I think we have a great chance at Juju and Hidalgo. I don’t know if any of the seniors want to come back, but landing both would take away that option for them.
With Watkins S.Carolina has the worst chance imo. That lifestyle change is just too much.
Southern Cal is probably where she wants to go, but my guess is that a player at her level wants nattys. She’s a phenomenal player, but they don’t get a natty just because she shows up. They don’t become a contender because of her, they become a decent team with a world class guard.
Stanford and Arizona are probably the only two options at a ring, and either would be fantastic choices.
Two advantages Arizona has imo are that she’s knows and has played with many of the ladies headed there. Although, you never know, that might not be a positive. The second advantage for Arizona is style of play. Stanford is all about the system. I think that’s one reason they struggle recruiting the highest level guards. Most big time AAU guards like to create scoring opportunities on their own and the Cardinal style isn’t really built that way.
Finally, who doesn’t love Adia?

i am guessing that the fact that 2 slots remain open means that both juju and hidalgo are still possible. tara usually fills all the available roster slots although she could certainly be making an exception this year to leave more room for the several excellent '24 prospects.

I have a little more optimism about Hidalgo than Watkins, since it felt like at media day when asked about options to step into a PG role post Haley, Tara hinted that along with the players on the roster, she was recruiting point guards who have the experience and ability to step right in. Could be talking about Clardy, but from what I have seen Hidalgo is more of a true point/game manager

I share your concerns about how we always seem to come in second for top point guards but why would Hidalgo go to Notre Dame to be a bench warmer for two years behind Olivia Miles when she has the potential to start day one at Stanford? And yes we lose top players but we also got Jones, Brink and Betts. And Jones has just as many NIL opportunities as players at other schools. And former players like Chiney Ogwumike have been amazingly successful at careers in the media.

Maybe Hidalgo would find it enticing to play alongside Miles and learn from her. Notre Dame the last 10 years has more top elite guards playing in the WNBA than arguably any college aside from Uconn so if the goal is to get to the next level and play in the WNBA; Notre Dame has proven they know how to make that happen more so than Stanford. This is a pretty impressive list of just Notre Dame guards/wings playing in the W.

I was happy to see Haley get the NIL with Nike. The Stanford experience is about so much more than just basketball. It all just depends on the individual and what they are looking for.

Juju visited USC this fall and recently posted about her visit to South Carolina. She's also been on the AZ campus multiple times. I've seen nothing about her ever visiting Stanford aside from the NCAA tourney game last spring. What recruit picks the school that they never took an official visit to?. She also skipped visiting the weekend all our other 2023 recruits were here. Unless she's on campus this weekend or next weekend, it does not bode well for her choosing Stanford. My prediction: JuJu ends up at Arizona and they have the top recruiting class by a wide margin.
I think we have a better chance at Hidalgo. Things working against us; Notre Dame and Duke are both excellent schools with up and coming coaches that are much closer to her home. Our past history for recruiting elite guards from the east coast is abysmal. We never seem to win these recruiting battles even when many of the recruits would be guaranteed staters. My prediction: Hidalgo picks Notre Dame
I've been wrong before. I hope I'm wrong again and we land at least one. Anxious for signing day to be here.
I share your concerns about how we always seem to come in second for top point guards but why would Hidalgo go to Notre Dame to be a bench warmer for two years behind Olivia Miles when she has the potential to start day one at Stanford? And yes we lose top players but we also got Jones, Brink and Betts. And Jones has just as many NIL opportunities as players at other schools. And former players like Chiney Ogwumike have been amazingly successful at careers in the media.
Maybe Hidalgo would find it enticing to play alongside Miles and learn from her. Notre Dame the last 10 years has more top elite guards playing in the WNBA than arguably any college aside from Uconn so if the goal is to get to the next level and play in the WNBA; Notre Dame has proven they know how to make that happen more so than Stanford. This is a pretty impressive list of just Notre Dame guards/wings playing in the W.

I saw the ESPN film crew filing her and her family but I did not know who they were and it did not occur to me until I was told later on that it was her. Hope she had a great visit. Not the glitzy event some teams throw but a nice crowd compared to most years and a fun, high scoring scrimmage.

i wonder if the coaches preferred to offer juju individual attention though could simply have been the weekend that fit her schedule best.
