It makes sense that venture capitalists would have spent a lot of time thinking about the same thing.

I have read Elon Musk's biography by Ashlee Vance.  This ethos Musk is imposing on Twitter is completely consistent with how he has run things at Tesla and (especially) SpaceX.  When those companies were getting going, workweeks upward of 100 hours for their engineers were not uncommon.  Perhaps this is excessive but when you're endeavoring unprecedented feats in the physical world, extraordinary efforts are warranted and Musk has proven his values there.

Trying to transfer that routine to an enterprise that depends on speculative theories about the habits inherent in large-scale human behavior, concerning a mass communication technology that hasn't even been around for a generation, now that's another story.

I thought the same thing about Tesla.  Their first plant was a total mess.  The decision to even build cars in CA is insane.  What most people don't realize is about half of the Tesla's were built in a tent beside the main plant because the super modern automated plant didn't work and all of sudden they needed twice the space.  He had all sorts of senior people quit that company as well.

But he figured it out.

When the CA plant couldn't produce, Elon was sleeping on the factory floor.  I remember telling everyone how insane that was.  What does Elon know about making cars.  What they needed was a dozen Ford engineers not Elon.

But he figured it out.

Not sure what is happening at Twitter.  But I wouldn't bet against him figuring it out.
