Haley playing point is not good against this D.

We knew it was going to be ugly. We handled our business and got the win. Sure, it wasn't pretty and we didn't score as many points as many would have liked. But, we held CO to 49 points. We didn't need to score more than 50.
We had 14 brinks in this game. Cameron got 6 and only got whistled for 2 fouls.

They play extra physical, going over the line, and that is not from just me, those at the chalk talk know. We missed a lot of shots near the basket. Credit CO's defense and that they were allowed to be very physical down there with some fairly heflty players. Miller and Vonleh are not small women.
To the good, we started the game well, got a nice lead, and I don't believe CO ever got within 10 after we built the nice lead early. Jump had a very good day on offense and played very good defense on Foremann, whose name I may be butchering. Haley struggled a bit to finish but rebounded like crazy. Our defense was generally very good. The energy was good all game. Betts got some minutes and did well. She blocked a shot or two, grabbed rebounds in traffic and ran the floor well. Missed a couple of shots but overall an encouraging outing for her. Brink also struggled to finish inside and got pretty beat up trying, but she did block a lot of shots.
Nivar and Harriel were not fantastic but given the opponent's style and how little time they have had at the point, I give them both a thumbs up. Don't forget that things would have been easier, the ball handling better, if our starting point guard was available. Lepolo was walking around fine with no boot or anything so I suspect she will be back next weekend.

Jump had a great game. Glad to see her putting the ball on the floor more.
Other than rebounding, Jones had a poor game. many mistakes.
Brink was terrific especially with blocks, but not as great a game as usual.
Betts was good on D and rebounding, but what's happened to her shooting touch?
Our O and breaking the press suffered with Haley as PG.
Nivar and Harrie, were both decent but didn't do anything special. However, it wasa really great that they buried all their FTs. We needed those and good to see that they didn't wilt under pressure.
Good win but could have been a bigger margin. Best part was to let both mountain schools know that Stanford still is the top dog.
Refs were horrible.

CO coach was screaming about the intentional foul called on the nice girl who punched Brink with her left hand while shooting with her right. Ref abuse. Greg Price, head ref, has been around long enough to not put up with crap like that. Technical on the coach iirc.

Hmm, I thought that play was earlier, was reviewed, and was determined to be a no-call. Why would Colorado's coach be screaming about that?
I quite believe she was screaming about something that didn't go her way, though.
