Thanks for the info.  I was told she originally went to UCI because her parents wanted Onye to focus more on academics than volleyball.  Looks like volleyball has taken center stage for her.

I had hoped Stanford would somehow add an impact MB to the 2023 team but that now seems like an unrealistic wish.

There were some sequences in the video that showed good court awareness. In one sequence, she had a hit dug and came right back with another hit that curved into the left corner. I'm hoping this will translate into an ability to adjust to collegiate blocking.

Update on Hayley Hodson, former National Freshman of the Year, suing Stanford in Santa Clara Superior Court for concussion damage.  Case was first submitted in March 2018.  Jury trial is currently scheduled for October 2023.  So five and a half years will have gone by.  Legal websites say they see no indication Stanford is going to settle out of court.  I suppose they would have done so by now if that was the plan.

The USA Women's National team is having tryouts this weekend in Colorado Springs.  The Collegiate National Team will be initially selected from this tryout.

The 2023 U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team will train in Anaheim alongside the U.S. Women’s National Team athletes and staff. This program is used for consideration for selection to our Women’s National Team and related events. Dates for the WCNT training block will be announced soon.

I didn't see any Stanford players on the roster which is a little surprising.  It's possible Kipp and Miner may have an invitation by Karch to try out for the National Team at another time.

Nebraska WVB will play a match on August 30 in their football stadium which seats 85,000. If they were playing Stanford I would expect it to sell out, but Nebraska plays in Maples this season.

I was thinking of sending an email to Hambly urging him to try convincing Nebraska to rearrange the schedule to play Stanford in this match.  But then I thought better of it.    Might be windy, could be raining, players may play poorly due to different environment.  Too many things can go wrong.

2025 setter Charlotte Glass (6-0, left-handed) out of Florida.   Is Stanford recruiting her.  I love left handed setters who are aggressive in going over the net on two.  

I remember watching Lydia Bai in club.  Hard to believe she was a setter in club.  While a right hander, Bai would frequently hit the ball over the net on two with her left hand.  Caused all kinds of problems for the opponents.

To help deal with the pain of cancelled softball games, I'm posting about WVB.  There is a big USAV National Qualifier (Red Rock Rave) this weekend in Las Vegas.  Over 200 teams on the wait list who didn't get in.  Some players of interest to Stanford playing in the tournament:

Club V 18 (Utah): Jordyn and Taylor Harvey:  Taylor (2025) is a 16 year old MB starting on a top 18s team so she must be good.  Don't know if she is interested in following her sister to Stanford.

WAVE 18 (San Diego):  Julia Blyashov and Koko Kirsch (DS).  I've only seen Kirsch on video highlights.   Will she get playing time freshman year?

SG Elite 17 (San Gabriel): Taylor Yu (2024 setter).  Perhaps heir apparent to Miner but she might choose beach over indoor.

These teams won all their pool play games today.  I'll give an update tomorrow for the two or three cardboarders who are interested.

Stanford is going on a European trip this summer to play exhibition games.  Hambly said Kurt will join them.  Will Blyashov, Harvey, and Kirsch be there also?

Why continue to spend coaching resources and travel expenses on a player who is gone after the season. This is a pro team which is a business owned primarily by a petroleum distribution company and an airlines.
