Given the declining season ticket sales I would be surprised if she was among the few of us who are still buying them....
given her degrees are from 2003 she was likely a frosh for the 2000 Rose Bowl game so she might have some positive memories associated with football

well when I graduated ('82) I thought it would be great to get to a Rose Bowl in my lifetime, we did, and while the outcome was not what we hoped we made it. The next three (for me) were a bonus (and two with better outcomes!!!!)

Someone here recently called Stanford a hospital with a university attached to it. Does the BoT have oversight responsibilities for Stanford Hospital? If so, that would be an additional reason that it makes sense that the new board chair is a leader in the healthcare industry.

I'm not sure of the relationship between the SHC's BoD and the University's BoT.

There have been hundreds (thousands?) of incredibly successful entrepreneurs among LSJU alums (including of course, Sarafan's predecessor as Chair of BOT, Jerry Yang). Virtually all have been male, going back to Hewlett and Packard. In contrast, there have been very few women LSJU alums who founded a world class business venture, and Lily is one of them. A worthy choice for the next BOT chair.

I'll take that as a challenge because, anecdotally, it does seem like there are many more male founders than female founders.
Might be more common to see Stanford women chosen to lead significant existing companies, like HP (Fiorina) or Yahoo (Mayer).
Anyway, the founder of Evite is a female Stanford alumna, circa my time on campus.
I'm sure members of this board can add a bunch.

To sum up the female founder line of discussion:
Collectively, we've identified 4 female Stanford alumni who founded significant companies, one of whom is in jail and one of whom is in her 90s.
Can we do better?
Or, if not, can society do better at producing female founders?
