65-65 overtime

Great look for the win just. misses. That might have been our chance. Happy we fought back. Even if we lose, great battle in the 2nd half.

Bad coaching at end. If you are going to do that, you have to drive with 2 seconds left to give a chance for a put back. Waiting until the buzzer gives no chance for that.

Good point.
Four point lead with 23 seconds to go. God, if we blow this.

“But that foul [on Stanford] hasn’t been called all game.”

RE: WBB -- Stanford vs UNC (10 AM ESPN) - MV72018 - 01-04-2026

There's still ample time left to blow a 4 point lead with 20 left. But, to her credit, at least Lepolo is making her FTs.

What a gift to have a free throw shooter like Lepolo in a game like this.

SO HAPPY FOR THIS TEAM AND COACHES. What grit and heart in the 4th and OT. A ranked win on the road. I think the combinations were much better in the 2nd half. Play Eschmeyer more. We need Shay's effort and hustle out there.  Honestly, sometimes we look better without Nunu on the court.

GO CARD!

Side note: I also like the team's CARDINAL uniform color this year way more than years past.

Good win. Coach Paye deserves some credit for this win.

May be the best W of the year so far.

Is Nunu hurt? Only played 18 min and got 4 shots.

I thought Eschmeyer played well in her (for some reason) quite limited minutes.

Nunu fouled out and was honestly quite ineffective in her time out there. Our late 4th quarter run and OT all happened with her on the bench. Eschmeyer was more effective. Game ball to Ogden but lots of player stepped up.

Agara minutes limited by foul trouble - second foul early in the second quarter, third foul early in the third, and fouled out halfway thru the 4th.

Best win of the Paye era! Overcame biased refs, 26 fouls and 22 turnovers.

RE: WBB -- Stanford vs UNC (10 AM ESPN) - JohnR34231 - 01-04-2026

Eschmeyer got 10 points in 7 minutes of play?
I don't know about the rest of her game, but it would certainly look like she is in line for more playing time.

This had to be the most biased crew in memory. Where there any contested shots by NC that weren't called as fouls? And we blink and it's immediately an offensive foul, meanwhile they let NC get away with worse? And don't get me started on the bleedin'.

Coach deserves extra credit for not losing her mind and cool when UNC's Toomey pushed off but was NOT called for her fifth foul.

Yup. Credit where credit is due. That was insane.

shay won that game for us!

RE: WBB -- Stanford vs UNC (10 AM ESPN) - PalmTree - 01-04-2026

I was a little more relaxed at halftime than normal, mainly because we were actually shooting pretty well to that point (forgot to jot down the %) and  still only down 5 (?) - very glad we kept it up too.

What I didn't also realize until now was  the magnitude of our rebounding advantage, 40-28. Also/last, others have mentioned our clutch FT shooting - we finished 15-18 (83%) pretty much offsetting their meager 18-30 (60%).

This was a REALLY solid turnaround from the NC State game - though we still need to clean up those TOs. WHOOT!

With the new WBB rules that allow the defending team to advance with a timeout if they don't dribble after a rebound, it's now a significant risk to leave time on the clock. The better decision now is to make sure you're taking the last shot, particularly if you're not behind. And, the action they run with Clardy going to the basket is something they regularly run at the end of games. She's hit a couple of those for game winners.

The shortest player on the floor leading your team in O-Boards! Love it.
