Stanford Women finish 5th good showing

Per GoStanford, LSJU W track/field finished 9th at the NCAA indoor championships over the weekend. (The official NCAA site says LSJU ended up tied for 12th). 

Whitaker finished 4th in the 800 and Jones was 2nd in the LJ and 3rd in the HJ. (Is Jones up there with Erica McLain as the best all around jumper in LSJU W t/f history? Only BobK knows for sure!) Kennedy was 13th in the 5,000.

It doesn't look like anyone from LSJU M t/f qualified for the meet.

Harrison Williams sighting, the LSJU 2024 Olympic decathlete ran the 200m this afternoon at the UCSD Triton Invitational. He finished second in his heat in 21.36, 9th overall out of 109 entrants. The 200m isn't part of the decathlon so it was probably fun for him to run the curve.

Bumping this thread with the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field championship coming up June 11-14. I copy below a recent comment by Jamesy:

Last year, we finished 6th with 29 points from 4 scoring events, Willis winning the 800 m, Kennedy 3rd in the 5k, Jones 4th in the high jump and 2nd in the long jump. Will be challenging to match that many points this year.

Apparently, no Stanford men qualified this year.

Thanks Bob and John. There have been some fantastic jumpers at LSJU - James Lofton, Darrin Nelson, Dr. Milton Little, Erica McLain and others. Jones has to be up there too in that elite group.

As someone else pointed out, gostanford.com had an error in the schedule they posted last week. Here is the corrected schedule (from gostanford.com):

Jones' winning jump would've been silver medal distance at Paris 2024 Olympics, behind only Tara Davis-Woodhall.
