Well, I was entertained again. 14-pt lead, 13-pt deficit, within a possession or two into the final minutes… oh well…
IMO, we should be well past the point of moral victories and just simply being competitive in games. We need to actually win some! We definitely had chances late. Regardless of how much talent we have, I have zero confidence in Haase managing that talent and leading any Stanford team to the NCAA tourney. Simply look at his history.
At least the games have been entertaining. Soon, will probably just stop watching altogether.
Agree. The patience of being content and appreciative of a good effort has just worn too thin.
Too many moral victories over the years.
Precious few of memorable strings of actual victories.
These are good to great players.
They play hard.
They just don’t / haven’t won a lot.
Maybe they’ll start an impressive string of wins.
Until then moral victories feels like being served up lukewarm gruel with moldy bread.

Michigan was picked to finish 11th in the Big10 (funny how that sentence makes complete sense these days!). So it’s hard to find a moral victory over a loss to what is likely mediocre team.
This is coming from someone who actually has Michigan basketball season tickets this year.
Very tired of the Haase era and losing what seems like every game that is close late.

It seems like every game under Haase gives us the same choice:
Defense. Rebounding. Offense. Pick one.
We see good individual efforts or a good defensive or offensive effort. But we almost never get a good--or even above average--outcome in all three aspects of the game. (Yes, there are rare exceptions. But they are exceptions)
Very tiresome to have this happen year after year.

I trust many of you saw how productive Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan were for UNC against Villanova. What does this success by recently departed Cardinal players say about the quality of Haase's basketball program?

Spencer Jones out with an illness vs Northern Iowa in the Bahamas.

We’re already down 6-4
To what is essentially the Blessed Sisters of the Poor intramural squad
Where’s the tar & feathers?
Getting worse
Now down 13-6 and they’ve had at least 3 steals and 2 dunks
We gave up 4 turnovers in 4 min
Are we “good” for a 40 turnover game?!
At the tv timeout we’re on pace to lose 100-40

Give Haase a trident and leave him in the Bahamas to rule over the island kingdom while the rest of the team flies back to the Bay Area. This is entering punchline territory.

Yes!
Never has a coach been given so much and accomplished so little

Huh. 22 pt loss, 73-51. To 2-4 Northern Iowa. New modern program low?

Didn't watch this game but based on the battle/effort from the first 2+ games, I assume our guys were just exhausted today?

This was NorthIowa’s 3 rd game in 3 days same as us

The other team should have been equally exhausted since they played the same amount of games.
Extremely disappointing to end up in 8th place in a tournament that had no top 10 team playing and some teams with which we may have competed to go to the dance.

I think so
Because not even 1 month into the season coach Haase has practically guaranteed we will not go dancing
We will be lucky to be slightly above .500 when hit the gauntlet of conference play
Even if we miraculously do well there and get onto the bubble, the Northern Iowa loss is what is considered a bad loss. Very very bad.
They were 1-4 coming in with only win being over Loras College, a 1600 student Catholic college in Iowa that plays at Div III level.

This version of Stanford basketball appears to be bad to maybe OK at executing offense (20th in assists per game but 130th in turnovers per game), very bad to bad on defense (190th in defensive efficiency), bad at shooting (111th nationally in 3-pt percentage) and godawful at rebounding (249th nationally in a stat called total rebounding percentage).
It's a mess.

I can't believe there is a 4 page thread on Stanford WBB's game with Florida State and this is a 3-page thread for the Stanford MBB season?
Muir should be relieved of his duties for this one fact alone.

I actually watched albeit with a lot of fast forward, and we weren’t even interesting. Down by 15 10 minutes in. They never got closer than I think 13 the rest of the game. Down 22 at halftime, and there never was a threat to get close. We weren’t even mediocre at anything let alone good.

Jerod Haase seems like a nice guy, decent, honest.
I could see him working out well in insurance.

His recruiting says he would be good in sales alright, but that is a different sport. We have too much talent to wait until this year is over, make the change now. We have some good assistants, make one an interim head coach and move on. This dumpster fire has burned too long. Our players deserve better.

To be fair, we played a very late game 2 after a double OT game 1, while they played an earlier game 2. It does not, however, excuse the uncompetitive game.
