Time zone effects, with the game ending near 11 pm Eastern time? UNC missed a bunch of FTs late and made some turnovers late. Reminded me a bit of the 4th quarter of the football win over Boston College last Sept.
And thanks to the missed Carolina FTs. we get free burgers at Shake Shack tomorrow!
And I want one of those Okorie t-shirts.
And kudos to Muir for hiring Kyle Smith!!
Do we REALLY get free Shake Shack burgers? The offer says late game defined as last ten minutes. I think there were 14 minutes left when NC missed those free thtows
Leftcoast or others - Did you get your free Shake Shack Burger today? I heard the announcer quote the offer before the NC player bricked it, but I haven't heard of anyone getting to Shake Shack today?

Yes, you really get the free burger…and, if you had been at the Stanford Shopping Center Shake Shack about 30 minutes ago, you could have stood in line behind several women’s volleyball players…

Sounds like Shake Shack is not enforcing their fine print-good!

Just for the record, UNC missed a pair of FTs at least twice in the second half, Trimble before the 10 minute mark, and then Wilson after the 10 minute mark! So no issue with the Shake Shack fine print.
UNC was just 20 of 32 from the line for the game. For the season, they are only ~ 67 %.

ESPN has us as the third team out of the Tourney as of this morning:
https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/bracketology/ncaa-bracketology-2026-march-madness-men-field-predictions
The crowd-sourced bracket at
www.bracketmatrix.com also has us as the third team out, though many of those brackets haven't been updated since the UNC game.
So, for now at least, we're squarely a bubble team. A win tomorrow would go a long way towards changing that status...

So you're saying the odds are good that we don't end up in 16th/17th place in the ACC standings as predicted by the experts? 8^)

Nah ... both sets of missed free throws were BEFORE the 10 minute mark. I was tracking this rather closely, Shake Shack fan that I am. According to the CBS game tracker Wilson's missed free throws were at the 10:51 mark.
Shake Shack decided to be generous because who reads the fine print? (Other than me...)

Pro tip: the chant "here we go shake shack here we go" shouted loudly anywhere near the opponent's basket is noticed by the players and their fan section. My friend and I have done it at a few women's games and while it's yet to work, it's great fun.

While it may be "fun" to try to disrupt your team's opponents, I won't participate in that.

We sit in the South end zone and while I can appreciate MTs moral stance I've also found that shouting a shooters given name immediately before a shot is a good strategy .... Not sure about all the hand waving but that's also fun.
I guess I'm just a less moral person ...

Correct. As it is an organized effort by the home team’s school, I believe it should result in a technical foul. Why not just strobe the arena’s lights during an opponent’s free throw attempt?

Because the NCAA has rules against that, like the rules against the band playing during play (which doesn't stop singing or humming).
I have often credited the band with causing the opponent to miss a shot by their false countdown in the first half. Come to think of it, though, they haven't even tried that at the WBB games this year.

Well, that settles it: appearances to the contrary notwithstanding, neither Melania nor Mary Trump posts on this board.

Thanks Leftcoast for that timing clarification. And thanks to the Shack for the waiver of the 10 minute rule!
In line at the Shack last night, I found myself standing behind a crowd of undergrads, including our very own LJSU backup point guard, Kitch!
Beat the Blue Devils. (recall Lars of The Bootleg dubbing ASU the "Solar Satans" back in the 1990s. What a classic. Did he have a similar name for Duke? The Cerulean Satans?)

Cal leads North Carolina 54-37 at halftime. If the Tar Heels can't come back and pull out a win, will Hubert Davis be left on the tarmac at SFO?
