I don't think anyone has mentioned the individual results for Stanford yet?
* Dean Greyersman, ranked #81 coming into stroke play, finished tied for 6th at -6 over four rounds.
* #147 Edan Cui, ranked #147 finished tied for 32nd at even par.
* #50 Jay Leng finished tied for 49th at +4.
* #98 Nathan Wang finished tied for 75th at +12.
And to restate: Stanford's team ranking entering stroke play was #15, and the team finished tied for 7th in stroke play, tied for 5th overall for the championship.

Looks like it's Ucla vs. Auburn in tomorrow's final. Ucla beat U of A and Auburn smoked Okla. State.
I made it out the course a bit late, got to see the last hour or so. By then it was sunny, warm and not too windy. Everything happened within about 15 minutes - Nate Wang upset win, then Greyserman and Leng falling just short.
Trudging to the shuttle bus (along with many dejected Texas fans - their highly ranked W team was upset last week by E. Michigan and their #2 M team lost their match today to Ucla), I did have a couple relieved Auburn fans say to me, That was close almost to the very end.

As happened on the women’s side the #1 ranked team was both the best in stroke play and match play. If it’s any consolation Stanford gave them the biggest challenge as Auburn subsequently crushed OK St 5-0 and dominated UCLA 4-1.
I think Coach Ray got the absolute best out of his lineup this spring. A very successful year especially vis a vis the general expectations and track record even as recently as the fall campaign. The seniors (Greyserman and Wang) really stepped up to the opportunity.

Thorbjornsen has a 1 stroke lead on the final hole of the Rocket Classic. Would be his first PGA win.
Thor finishes with a birdie on 18. He shot a 63 today. No bogeys. Riley would need to birdie the last two holes to tie Thor.

After the win, Thor received 500 FedEx cup points and is zooming up in FedEx Cup standings after the win from 69th to 38th (approx.).
Beat Schaufele by two strokes, which is pretty darned great.

Isaiah is on a medical leave from the tour. Hopefully he will be back at it in 2027.
Congrats to Thor! I think that makes a three year Stanford winning streak - McNealy >> Vilips >> Thorbjornson. Would be great for Rodgers to finally break through.

Jay Leng is having a terrific summer. He won the Western Amateur, was runner-up in the Northeast Amateur and finished 5th in the Southern Amateur. He's done very well in directional tournaments. :-)
This has boosted him all the way up to 24th in the world in WAGR (World Amateur Golf Rankings).
His strong play has continued this week during stroke play qualifying at the US Amateur. He has completed his second round and sits at -2, in a tie for 9th place. He's definitely making the cut for match play.
4 other Stanford golfers are in the field.
Recent grads Nathan Wang and Dean Greyserman just started their second stroke play rounds. They are both in the hunt for the top 64, starting the day at +1.
Sophomore to be Edan Cui has some work to do. He was at +3 after his first round.
Transfer Daniel Zou had a disastrous 11 on a par 4 yesterday. He is even par otherwise. But he won't make the cut.

Leng was the only Stanford golfer to make the match play field. Wang double bogeyed the last hole to miss the cut by one shot. Brutal.
Leng is facing Evan Beck today, a former pro golfer who regained his amateur status and is now a certified financial analyst.
Update - Leng won 5 and 4. He will face Zackary Swanwick in the round of 32 tomorrow. Swanwick is a junior at Florida who has also played well this summer.

Jay Leng Jr has advanced to the round of 16 with a solid 6&5 victory over Zackary Swanwick, the 20th ranked amateur in the world.
His opponent this afternoon is Tyler Watts, the #3 ranked amateur. This is probably the marquee matchup for TV coverage which will be streaming on Peacock starting at 12 noon pacific.

Leng fell behind by 2 holes early. But he rode a stretch of 5 birdies in 7 holes to turn things around and he hung on for a 1 up win!
Leng plays current Florida golfer Jack Turner in the quarterfinals tomorrow starting at 10:45 pacific. Turner is ranked 19th in the world.
Best performance by a Stanford golfer since 2020 when Michael Thorbjornsen made the quarters before losing. David Boote, Isaiah Salinda and Karl Vilips also made the quarters within the last 10 years. Salinda made the semis before losing. David Chung in 2010 was the last Stanford finalist.

Jay Leng Jr is on to the semifinals! He threw a birdie barrage at his opponent with 6 birdies in 13 holes to win 6&5. He finished with a par and 4 birdies - 3 3 3 3 2. The announcers have said multiple times that no one this week is playing better than Leng.
He will likely face Logan Reilly from Auburn tomorrow.
