This is why I'm hesitant to book any trips to away games. I was considering going to to LA games for the women in February but am holding off until the last minute to book a hotel. It'll probably cost more money for late bookings but it's the only option with Covid, especially with the LA schools.

You might be able to save some money by booking a hotel with a cancelation option (might be a little more than the prepaid option but cheaper than last second purchases).  And if you're flying and you have Southwest points, those are fully refundable so buy with points now.  (As opposed to buying with cash which is only refundable as credit for a year)
