Anyone else bothered by this?
As has become the rule, not the exception, with mainstream news, it is unsourced. Quoting myself, when you read an unsourced news story, you are actually reading an unsigned op-ed. So why it appears in print in the first place is a question.
But more seriously, my suspicion is that this is a leak of classified material, that might compromise other intelligence operations and maybe endanger someone's life, if there is a humint source. For years, the major newspapers have treated the CIA and NSA as if they were the enemy - even when there's a real enemy, such as Russia or Al-Qaeda. Not good.

I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness - yeah, and a little looking out for the other fella, too.
