It looks like Stanford won each of its three heats today. Should we read anything into the time differences between the winners of the different heats? It looks like Texas had the fastest times in all three categories.

A better time offers better lane assignments in subsequent events.  From the 2021 Rowing Championship Manual:

"In the repêchages and semifinals, the principle is to place the crews with the best previous results in the center lanes of the course. Similarly, the crews with the worst previous results are placed in the outside lanes of the course."

If I were Stanford, I'd want to be right next to Texas in all of my events.
