I just watched the 1st episode of "Dream On."  I don't think I agree that Tara was presented in a negative light.  She came across as a tough taskmaster who knew how to push the right buttons to get her team ready.  Her remark that she was no one's friend was revealing.  Clearly she has mellowed over the years, but the young Tara might have been what was needed to forge a team out of a collection of disparate stars.

I'll comment more once I finish the series.

Just finished part 2 and this was much more negative about Tara--particularly Lobo's remarks that she never had a single human conversation with Tara, that Tara was all about winning and nothing at all about relationships with players or the enjoyment of the game.  Pretty strong stuff.  I've heard many times that Tara has mellowed out over the years--maybe this is what those remarks were referencing.

I recall when it was aired that Lobo said something like they weren't (obviously) friends then, but they have since been friends for over 15 years, and that she didn't understand why Tara was like that back then, but does now.

Also interesting to hear Bird and Karlie discuss this in Bird's latest podcast. Neither pretty much experienced the "human" Tara until their junior year.

Could you give a link to that podcast?

Just finished the series.  Superbly done, I thought.  The backstories were powerful.  I really did not understand how critical that gold medal was to the creation of the WNBA.  And today's Tara reflecting on yesterday's Tara was quite interesting.
