I just watched the 1st episode of "Dream On."  I don't think I agree that Tara was presented in a negative light.  She came across as a tough taskmaster who knew how to push the right buttons to get her team ready.  Her remark that she was no one's friend was revealing.  Clearly she has mellowed over the years, but the young Tara might have been what was needed to forge a team out of a collection of disparate stars.

I'll comment more once I finish the series.

Just finished part 2 and this was much more negative about Tara--particularly Lobo's remarks that she never had a single human conversation with Tara, that Tara was all about winning and nothing at all about relationships with players or the enjoyment of the game.  Pretty strong stuff.  I've heard many times that Tara has mellowed out over the years--maybe this is what those remarks were referencing.

Currently watching episode 3.

I agree I don't think episode 1 portrayed her that poorly.  They lay on the line what was at stake, for the future of the sport and given what the NBA had invested into it.  They made it clearly she could not lose, and made it clear why her focus had to be to win, regardless of whether people liked her or not for it.  And I think they made it clear that while it grated on the team at first, that the players also understood it is what made them great.  It's basically like Herb Brooks and the 1980 hockey team.

But man, episode 2...   I mean, there were 12 players on the team, but let's focus everything on Rebecca Lobo's feel-feels.  Could ESPN make it any more obvious they're in the tank for UConn and how dare you make someone from UConn feel bad!!!!  I mean, Lobo had the least experience on anyone on the team, of course the coach with the future of the sport on the line is going to feel the least confident in her.  Also let's give Geno more screen time than Tara even though one coached the whole goddam thing and one didn't.

Once you get by that, yes, great documentary.  30 of 30 hits way more than it misses.

Geno did not have more screen time than Tara. The Rebecca Lobo spat was newsworthy at the time and should absolutely have been included in this documentary and rightfully was. If there wasn't intrigue and storylines and some drama, a documentary wouldn't be worth watching. Why not highlight those things. They weren't fabricated. It was overall a great documentary and I'm glad I made time to watch.
