This is a tempest in a teapot.  The Regents shouldn’t be involved.  It is a campus issue.  If Cal was stupid enough (and they were) to build a Taj Mahal for a football program that historically has never been a player (except for two brief periods, in the early 1920’s and early 1950’s), they have only themselves to blame.  Let them wallow in their misery.

Except it doesn't work like that. The UC system is a part of the State of California and if Kal can't make the payments, the UC system has to do so. So unfortunately it is not a "campus issue".
