What I meant is that we should stop worrying about the effect of our actions on Russia.  Russia is going to do what it’s going to do, and no amount of our kowtowing to their feelings is really going to change things.

So we should give Ukraine whatever weapons they need to win that we can afford to give.

I agree.  It seems like the West is giving Ukraine just enough weapons to not lose the war.  IMO if Ukraine were to start pushing Russia totally out of Ukraine with pea shooters and slingshots, Putin would ramp up the talk about tactical nuclear weapons.  The conundrum is if Ukraine were to dramatically start winning the war IMO Putin would do something crazy.  It's really not about which weapons are used.
