With about 3 weeks to go until tip-off, all of us are excited about the 2022-2023 season which comes from having another loaded team and its quest for another championship run as well as some mystery about the starting lineup and all the combinations we have spoken about.
We have 2 amazing All-Americans who will most certainly play at the next level. I can (as I'm sure you can), go on and on about Haley. All I hope for is that she starts and plays the season injury-free.
Tara often said last season "You have not seen the best of Cam" and with her move to power forward, we might be witness to something very special this season. Having said that, I'm hoping this past summer Cam has worked on her defensive footwork and limiting unnecessary aggressiveness which contributed to fouling and spending significant time not in the game and where Tara really had to manage her playing time.
In 2021-2022, I thought Cam played much better post defense as the season went on. Cam got in trouble when (because of her aggressiveness), she would defend much smaller (non-post) players on the perimeter and picked up a lot of silly fouls.
I'm sure the Cardinal brain trust has stressed to Cam how critical she is to the overall success of the team as is Haley and that she has improved that part of her game. Wouldn't it be exciting to watch Cam consistently play 25+ minutes and demolish her defenders on offense and then crush them on defense? I'm staying positive.
