Unfortunately it may also signal that Russia is doing the tactically correct thing and evacuating a position it cannot hold. The hope was that Ukraine could seriously damage the Russian military by cutting off their forces on the right bank. While even a well-executed planned retreat wouldn't be "loss free", it would be far superior to a crushing defeat. It is not "for sure" Russia intends to retreat, and even if they do they have limited GLOCs to use. However, Chosin Reservoir bad it isn't.

Still, taking back territory, especially a major city, would be a "good thing". There is still no rain in the 10 day forecast.
