I thought the injuries to Bonner and Filkins would kill us, but they didn't.
Ernest Cooper IV sure was fired up.
McKee played poorly, but he was fired up too.
Defense and special teams for the win.
Agree! But the injury to Bonner did hurt a bit. A couple plays after he left the game, they immediately picked on Salim Turner-Muhammad for their long TD pass. Then we saw Toomer at CB for most of the rest of the game, and I guess he did pretty well.
Cooper IV was a revelation! A sack, 2.5 TFLs, 5 tackles - in relatively limited action, replacing Armitage who was also down. Maybe Cooper and Bailey will terrorize opposing offenses for us for a few years to come.
Note that Fields was also out in the second half, replaced by #33 Gilman.
Don't know what we'll do without Filkins going forward. With his arm in a sling, it does not seem likely that he'll be back for a while. We're down to two guys that have played at all - Barrow and walk-on Robinson, who was getting all the touches at the end.
Right.....it didn't take them long to pick on STM.
As far as running back depth, i wonder if Arlen Harris is available?
