Hmmm....good non-answer on her part.  I'll stick with my WAG that the NIL and Tinsel Town factors played a role.

I think she was pretty clear on her motivation — being part of the firsts for a program.  I know nothing is her reasoning for going there, but that truly is a motivation of hers, you can’t really be the first for much at Stanford on or off the court.

Yeah, Stanford seemed like such a perfect fit for her. Interesting when your success as a program works against you rather than for you in the recruiting process.

Success as a program doesn't seem to be a problem for UConn in recruiting

At the same time they didn't get Kiki and with her brother playing for Yale  it would have also seemed a good fit, at least with their parents plans to attend the games.
I would say overall Stanford's success has certainly helped its recruiting. This was one isolated incident.
