I didn’t read through every case, but it seems like the only teams whose “best case” is a national title are South Carolina and Stanford. If so, that seems like a profound lack of imagination. To me, while South Carolina is the favorite, and it is reasonable to think that Stanford has a good chance, the “best case” for a fair number of teams (my guess is that roughly the top 10) can reasonably hope to win a title.

Totally agree!

I would love to believe that only South Carolina and Stanford have a chance at a natty, and that we will get a preview on Nov 20.  But the truth of the matter is that the musical chairs that is now NCAA WBB makes early season predictions even more questionable than they used to be, and teams that are well down the list may become real threats, and teams we assume will be excellent may never jell.  Stanford and South Carolina are perhaps the two most stable teams, so I see why Voepel picked us two, but most other predictions are questionable at this stage.
