The article lists the best and worst case scenarios for each top 25 team. The best case scenario for Stanford and South Carolina states winning the national championship. The rest of the top 5 is only making the Final 4. Is ESPN saying they think Stanford and South Carolina are the only two real title contenders? Just an observation as I'm not sure how to interpret. Very excited for the season to get underway soon! Let's stay healthy all year!

I made essentially the same article above... to me, that represents a profound lack of imagination.  I wonder what fraction of the time one of the top two teams pre-season win a national title.  My guess is that it is less than 50%.  I think South Carolina is rightly the favorite, and I like Stanford's chances if certain things get figured out.  But if I had to bet, I think I would put my money on "the field".
