The safer move is to reinforce the east and go strength on strength where Russia is sending their forces. That risks really bogging down in prolonged stalemate.
The bolder move is to push south to Melitopol. Pushing down towards Crimea forces the Russians to respond and could pin the forces on the east bank of Kherson. I like it because the supply situation in the South is likely harrier then in the east and politically it puts more pressure on the Russians
