4) 2nd Q was really terrible as well.  Whatever offensive combo was out there was simply not working.  Looking back, we were up 10 after 1Q and also after 3Q.  Just seemed like we got too tight out there.

Boston was out the entire second quarter--we should have built up much more than a 10 point lead.  But South Carolina outscored us 20-14 in the 2nd without Boston.  We went stagnant and our defense seems to have had problems when its main focus was sitting on the bench.

Haley was at the 1 even though it has been proven even 4 games in that this doesn’t work. The coaches are being let off the hook on social media. There is enough fault to go around and they deserve a lion’s share of it.

Belibi has, in the past, been a terrific defender, especially with respect to shot-blocking and causing all sorts of problems for both post and perimeter players. I think what we’re seeing from her this year is mostly due to the injury and possibly not getting into the flow of the game due to less playing time. I have faith that as she heals and the lineup gels we’ll start to see her have a larger and more effective role.

Other than the block for a dunk vs Montana State and a similar block vs Maryland, Fran is not a defensive stopper on defense. She is generally a mark when she comes in because she can’t guard the perimeter players closely or bang down below. Listen closely to Vic’s postgame comments after Texas game. Teams go right at her when she comes into the game. If Evina (UConn) doesn’t hit those wide open 3s in the first half in near succession, Stanford could have possibly been up at halftime by 8? vs down by 1. Guess who was guarding Evina? If you say it was the scout, then we can blame the coaches too because after the second one, someone should have adjusted. Same with Beal and Hall yesterday. Beal going into that game was a 40% 3-pt shooter, higher than everyone on our team except Hannah and Tara kept the same scout on her and Hall, who even though she was sub 30% the previous year, she was actually a shooter in high school and that low % was more a result of lack playing time/reps vs reality. Trading 2s (doubling Boston) for 3s (Beal, Hall) was not smart
