South Carolina brings a wave of players who are quick to the ball on defense and rebounding, and who can create on their own off the dribble. In the final ten seconds of a shot clock, they have more players who can produce a score.
Should we meet again, a key might be Iriafen's growth. She missed three shots that, after all full season. she easily might make. And we probably need one more player--Navar may be the only candidate, unless it's Bosgana--who can create something late in a shot clock against a very athletic defense.
This is a terrific Stanford team. To beat South Carolina, we need some players to emerge.
Other posters have pointed out that Iriafen has a nice short range jumper that she really hasn’t used so far. She’s very athletic but I think she’s a tad undersized at the low post. I think gradually we will see Betts get more minutes at Kiki’s expense. I would add Betts to Hulk’s list of players who have to emerge.
Prechtel should get more credit for playing a solid game. I think we will need to see more of her and I think we’ll need her to spell Brink. As wonderful a player as she is, Cam’s propensity for early fouls is not going to magically disappear.
We see the Prechtel/Belibi post combo out there a lot but I would love to see more Brink/Betts and Prechtel/Betts.
