I don't think the anthem should even be played at sporting events.  They are not patriotic activities.

You're probably going to get some blowback on the last comment re not playing the anthem, but I'm totally with you on this one. Agree completely. completely.

I too agree. It is a game that has nothing to do with the national character of those who play it. In the Olympics or similar, OK. In all other cases, I think it is out of place. I have always been of that opinion, even before there was any "controversy" surrounding it. At that point, I was the quaint minority. Given that experience, I don't see the anthem going away anytime soon.
