Our team missed it. No one knows why or what has to happen before our absence ends but the net result is that our team shunned an excellent singer who quietly presented an inclusive message. It must be worth it to someone or some group on the team or the entire team. But only they know .

I think it has been discussed in other posts, but the team does not come out to the floor for the national anthem.  Seems to be a team decision.

Agree with all you say. Important to add, I think, that no one seems to know why they dont come out or when  it began or when it will end. I wonder if the team knows or whether they don’t care and don’t want to rock the boat. Just curious, i really doubt they intended  any disrespect for the woman singing the NA, for the Hawaiian version of the NA or for the NA itself.  On the other hand ,it is  hard to believe this group of accomplished and intelligent women would engage in symbolism just for the pure heck of it.  

It is certainly their right to do so . It is also odd.

It isn't really that odd.  I've seen plenty of teams skip the anthem, leave the court while it is played, over the years.  It may be some sort of protest or a way to avoid a protest.  It may be that we now have a few players who are not US citizens who may feel a bit uncomfortable standing for an anthem that is not theirs.  It may be that the team has changed up how they do things and there is something they wish to do in the locker room at that time that they did earlier in the pre-game.  Whatever the reason, there is nothing inherently wrong with leaving the court, IMO.
