Seems like it would be unfair for one Pac-x school to get paid off like this while the rest of the conference suffers, not that there seems to be anything the Pac-x can really do about it.
Again this seems like a scared BOT who doesn't want to rock the boat taking the simplest path, not unlike our own BOT and the MTL situation.
On the one hand are the overwhelming preference of UCLA alums, students, and athletes, over a hundred years of history and rivalry, student-athlete welfare, travel expenses, plain common sense, and on the other, more money for the athletic department on the next TV deal, leaving aside the impacts to UCB or the UC system as a whole. Maybe I'm too close to the situation to see it clearly but seems like the BOT is really making a poor decision here not to exercise their oversight.
