As posted earlier in this thread, a lot of Big 10 cities have small airports and no non-stops from LAX. Fine for charters, but painful for commercial. On a good day, the connections will add at least a couple of hours to the trip if flying commercial. On a bad day, snow, ice, thunderstorms, etc. can wreak havoc. 

I don't like the idea that a "student athlete" is going to be away from campus as much as these trips will require. OTOH, perhaps they should get used to it. I am virtually certain many people on this board have experienced horrible travel requirements in their job that have actively interfered with them getting work done back at the office. You just have to learn how to cope with it and prioritize what gets done when. Could be good training. Does it change the "college experience"? Absolutely. Maybe that isn't "bad".
