I do not like how they play. They play extra physical, going over the line, and that is not from just me, those at the chalk talk know. We missed a lot of shots near the basket. Credit CO's defense and that they were allowed to be very physical down there with some fairly heflty players. Miller and Vonleh are not small women.
To the good, we started the game well, got a nice lead, and I don't believe CO ever got within 10 after we built the nice lead early. Jump had a very good day on offense and played very good defense on Foremann, whose name I may be butchering. Haley struggled a bit to finish but rebounded like crazy. Our defense was generally very good. The energy was good all game. Betts got some minutes and did well. She blocked a shot or two, grabbed rebounds in traffic and ran the floor well. Missed a couple of shots but overall an encouraging outing for her. Brink also struggled to finish inside and got pretty beat up trying, but she did block a lot of shots.
Nivar and Harriel were not fantastic but given the opponent's style and how little time they have had at the point, I give them both a thumbs up. Don't forget that things would have been easier, the ball handling better, if our starting point guard was available. Lepolo was walking around fine with no boot or anything so I suspect she will be back next weekend.
See my forthcoming article, “The NHL Is Taking Over Women’s College Basketball.” How long until actual fights break out during games?
Well, we almost had a fight against Colorado last year, Cam vs Hollingshead, who tried to throttle Cam with an arm around her neck, Can responding by throwing the ball at her. Missy, among others, pulled them apart
