This war will end with a negotiated settlement or unfortunately the scenario in this link.  There's no way Putin will accept unconditional surrender or leaving with no new territory gained.  Putin will probably not fully abide by a treaty he signs.  But that will be true six months from now or six years from now.

Hard to see what sort of negotiated settlement is possible currently.  Would Putin accept that his invasion gained so little and lost so many lives?  Would Ukraine even accept to returning to the lines that existed before the invasion?
Would Ukraine even consider returning to the borders post Crimean takeover, but before the invasion?  Would Putin accept anything at all but total victory? If Putin goes, then maybe Ukraine accepts something like the status quo before the invasion. 
How long will the Russian populace accept the body bags being returned to the Rodina and how long will the West support the Ukraine. Unknowns, but probably critical to a solution.
