Hard to see what sort of negotiated settlement is possible currently. Would Putin accept that his invasion gained so little and lost so many lives? Would Ukraine even accept to returning to the lines that existed before the invasion?
Would Ukraine even consider returning to the borders post Crimean takeover, but before the invasion? Would Putin accept anything at all but total victory? If Putin goes, then maybe Ukraine accepts something like the status quo before the invasion.
How long will the Russian populace accept the body bags being returned to the Rodina and how long will the West support the Ukraine. Unknowns, but probably critical to a solution.
