Old news, but the topic of USVs is an interesting one to me. While USVs seem unlikely to have a brobdingnagian impact in this conflict, they could be integral to a defense of Taiwan to the point where I’m surprised it isn’t a larger push/topic. China will need a large volume of ships, many civilian to move men and materiel. For the cost of a half dozen jets, they could get a fleet of likely thousands of USVs that could threaten all shipping in the straight. They could also be easily distributed, launched by small teams with a truck and trailer to make them less susceptible to long range bombardment.
