Well said. It is unfortunate but you expressed my feelings exactly. Stanford Athletics without major conference membership and top level competition will be hard to take. “Stanford means excellence. Well not in every respect”. However, I shall not jump off any metaphorical bridges while the thread of possible membership in the Big 20 exists. I just hope our leadership is smart enough to jump at it and doesn’t succumb to the “good riddance to competitive athletics “ notion. Nor do I want Stanford to retreat from excellence an any academic area .. I’m not interested in a second tier physics program or a club sport Econ program.
