That guy lost me at "[Stanford is] good in a few minor sports." Secondly, I'm pretty sure that it was USC, not Stanford, that nixed Texas the first time around, and the second time, it was because of the Oklahoma schools, not Texas.

The history of the failed Pac-16 idea seems to have been rewritten this summer.  Suddenly, it seems that it was Stanford and Cal using their influence to keep Texas and Oklahoma away.  It's ridiculous.
