Conferences are not going to last much longer. College Football needs a national league like the NFL with 60-70 members divided by region, separate from the NCAA and conferences. It's NFL lite, and yes, players are going to be paid in this structure. It's only a matter of time.

I can see this happening, except that a new college league will be somewhere around 32 teams like the NFL.

Now that TV money has been shown to be driving the bus, when ESPN & FOX offer the big schools an extra $20-30 million per year to leave the small schools behind, the presidents won't say no.

The question is whether the NFL will get involved since 1) they'll want a piece of the pie, and 2) it's in their interest to have more players to draft from.
