I would not be surprised to see Lance as the #2 by the end of the season.

Well, in the final pre-season game, Will Grier played the whole game for Cowboys:

29-35 305 8.5 YPA 2TD 0 INT 122 Rtg
Also 10 rushes for 53 yards and 2 TDs

Trey Lance could only dream of this kind of stat line. Based on this one game only, not only will Lance not be #2 in Dallas, he might not even be the 3rd best QB they have.

Again, based on this one game, Dallas will have to cut a guy (Grier) who is better than who they just traded a 4th rd pick to get, and who costs much more than Grier.

Maybe the Niners can pick up Grier from Dallas when they have to cut him, or maybe they can trade the 4th they got from Dallas back to them for Grier, and the teams will have effectively just swapped Lance for Grier.
