Sweden’s application to join NATO may be on long term hold with the election results in Slovakia. If so, Erdogan overplayed his hand and may well miss out on the F-16s he wants because he no longer holds the decisive vote. Also, the results in Slovakia reinforce what folks have said here about bringing Ukraine into NATO. The organization is already chaotic and heavily burdened by dissent. Adding Ukraine might seem logical today, but doing so could well add to the internal dysfunction later (to say nothing of the risk that Ukraine’s membership could drag the alliance into war).
