IMO, there are only three elite QB’s currently in the league - Rodgers, Stafford and Mahomes. There a number of guys who could bump up but still have something to prove - that they can lead their team to a championship.
I've always considered this argument specious. Relying on 21 other guys to vault you into elite territory doesn't seem to have a lot of validity.
Agreed. Performance in big games matters, but football is a team sport. Dan Marino is better then Joe Flacco and Trent Dilfer.
Likewise I would take Purdy over Rodgers and Stafford to win games this year.
If I were to rank QBs to win me a game right now it would go:
Mahomes
Herbert
Allen
Purdy
Tua
Jackson
Hurts
I never suggested winning a Super Bowl propels a QB to elite status. I did suggest that to be considered for elite status, a Super Bowl ring must be in your possession (among other requirements).
Also, I would take any QB in the game over Rodgers this year given the fact that Rodgers will be in the cast for the rest of the season.
Stafford over Purdy this year? Hmmm….
As for your list, flip Allen and Herbert and we agree (excluding Mahomes, I think Allen is the best QB in the NFL)….
