Steven Vogt the bullpen coach in Seattle?
Why ?

Vogt is both the bullpen and quality control coach for Seattle and he checks all the boxes for an MLB managing career, similar to Mike Matheny. He had a ten year MLB career with seven teams including the A's and Giants and was a two-time All-Star. He had a career-high .804 OPS with the Giants in 2019 and was extremely popular in SF as Posey's backup. He's been very well-respected at every organization at every level and has a ton of contacts in MLB, so ideally he can help bring in free agents. He has an ideal blend of analytics and old-school baseball analysis, a foot in both worlds. When asked about the preferred qualities in an MLB manager, Zaidi basically described Steven Vogt (and Bob Melvin, to be fair). Vogt grew up a Giants fan (he's from Visalia) and he has ties to Zaidi from his Oakland A's days...having played for Oakland at both the front and back end of his career. The Giants interviewed Vogt and Melvin and Jason Varitek for basically the same reasons...that backup catchers are deemed to be great managerial candidates. Vogt's expressed a desire to manage for years and he'll be an MLB manager someday soon.
