Of all the things to be outraged over, David Shaw's absence from last night's game is not one of them.
Who's outraged?
You’re right. “Ridiculously obsessed” would have been a more appropriate term.
Who's obsessed? Our former coach has a son playing for our opponent. Interesting situation, don't you think? Add in he's our winningest coach ever, how he left, the shitshow he left behind. Pretty newsworthy, right? Yet crickets until this thread, and only one comment confirming he was in attendance. What's happened to journalism, or at least sportsboard investigative sleuthing?
Honestly, I'm so sick of hearing people whine about Shaw that I'm thankful every time we can go five posts without his name being mentioned. He's not our coach anymore, and whatever he did to contribute to the state of our football program has been so overdissected over the past year(s) that the topic has become a real, boring yawner.
But we still sometimes can't help but talk about Coach Shaw some more, for the same reason people still read "A Tale of Two Cities": It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....

It's going to be two more years before Stanford rights the ship, but I have confidence that they will do so. I think they recruit the right kind of player, and I will certainly give the current coaching staff a lot of rope, given the abysmal situation they found themselves in, vis-a-vis the NIL and portal environments.
And it should go without saying that I really liked Matt's posts. Read every word, disagreed with almost none of it.
Yes agreed very much hope we get a msqueri post.
The irony of this year's stumbling team, is that if we lose the rest of the games (against really good teams) and yet pull out a win against dreaded CAL, we will have matched last year's record. Which I'd then consider quite a success of a season for Coach TT and Co, after being pummeled with perhaps the worst transfer portal abandonment of any PAC-12 team ever, except of course at Colorado where the transfers out were hounded out like cattle being chased with a hot prod.
