Just as an aside, the NFL did the 49ers no favors this year through scheduling. The 49ers play not just one, not just two, not just three but four of their 17 opponents after their bye week. That includes close losses to the Bengals and Browns, both of whom were coming off of their bye week. And not only did the Browns have two weeks off, but the 49ers played them after just six days, having played on the Monday night prior to the Browns game. And finally, the 49ers will have to play on Christmas Day, a Monday...then will have to play just six days later at the Washington Commanders, another 3,000 mile flight. So...both a short week and a cross country flight.

It's a given that the 49ers travel the second most in the NFL this season, second only to Seattle. This Sunday, they meet the Jaguars after their bye week, same as the 49er bye week...but the 49ers need to travel 3,000 miles to Jacksonville.

And the Niners will have to play on Thanksgiving Day, again drawing the short stick. The Niners are one of only three NFL teams that play twice on Thursday nights this season, week 3 and Thanksgiving. And the other two teams play on Thursday only after a full week of preparation and rest.

Niners got screwed for both the schedule and travel. I think 10-7 is their best possible record at this point.

Of course, the alternative is being a crappy team that no one wants to watch on TV.  Then you get all Sundays opposite major games. 

I prefer the tough schedule because it means the team is highly valued as a TV property…..

Note: Next year’s travel situation will be better. Only two eastern time zone games plus one possibility are on the schedule.
