Statcast has Oracle as the #26 ballpark for home runs, with Chase Field as #16. Petco is #30. Giants were #19 in overall home runs in 2023, #12 in 2022 and #2 in 2021. They're going in the wrong direction.

If Yamamoto is offered by the Giants and Red Sox, he should come with us. Fenway is the second easiest ballpark to hit home runs, right behind Coors Field in Colorado.

Wrong!

Per the Golden Gate Restaurant Association, there were 3,974 restaurants in the city in 2021.  To suggest that nearly 2,000 restaurants in the city have closed since that time exaggerates the difficulty the dining industry has experienced over the last couple years. 

SF has its share of problems.  However, to call it a “failed city” is definitely wrong.  The pandemic has had a significant impact (more so than most large cities in the U.S.) with the workforce coming back far more slowly than elsewhere (I would guess this is due to the nature of work done by a very large segment of the employee-base in SF).  This is the primary reason large businesses downtown have shuttered their stores.  However, it is remains a world class city that attracts visitors from all over the world.  In fact, tourism increased in 2022 (21.9 million) by 29% over 2021.  

In an attempt to not cross our political commentary line, I will just say, there are forces in the media that would like to see SF fail but they are wrong.  Those of us who live here know better.

Last comment - Unfortunately, Posey was right, it is a matter of perception over reality. 

Back to baseball….  Manea may be coming back.

I'm ok with Manea coming back. He had three bad outings and was made to sit in the corner. If they don't pay too much, he's way worth it. Re other factors, I have followed the demonization of SF and Newsom on Fox. It's one of their big themes and it's gross. I could cite many examples but dont want to wade into political stuff.

Agreed, but then I don't watch Fox so I wouldn't know what they communicate re: SF or anything else.

What do you think Manaea is worth? $10 million? His splits at home and vs. lefties were really strong last year, and he finished really strong. Basically, his ERA got better from June onward.

About right. Or two for sixteen? A big bargain compared to Stripling
