What's now most likely?
1. Zaidi panics, offers a bunch of declining free agents too much money, i.e. JD Martinez, Elvis Andrus, etc.
2. Zaidi panics and overpays for Cody Bellinger who regresses from his 5-6 WAR season to 1.8 and a lot of fly balls to right field.
3. Zaidi overpays for Matt Chapman and tries to sell this as "this is the deal you've been waiting for" and we watch another declining Evan Longoria situation unfold. Then, he re-signs Manaea and Snell goes elsewhere.
4. Zaidi signs Imanaga for 7 years, $145 Million and we see what it's like when Imanaga's 90+ fastball turns out to be 'very hittable'.
5. Welcome back to the Captain on a one year deal.

Ohtani was never going to be a Giant. Had dreams of Yamamoto for the Giants for awhile, but the tealeaves were never good. I guess, though I'm an old crank, I'm a build from the floor kind of guy. Maybe I'll live long enough to see the Giants win another pennant from acquiring young talent and the farm. . .
