The free agent season is actually turning out worse than I had predicted. Instead of overpaying at the top end, it looks like Zaidi is doing nothing. The Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Cubs, and Red Sox are all shopping at Nordstrom. Zaidi walked through Nordstrom and took a Lyft to Value Village.

The Giants matched the Dodgers’ $700 million offer to Ohtani.  He wanted to stay in southern California. 
The Giants made a substantial offer to Yamamoto.  He chose to sign with LA.
Lee signed an over market nine-figure deal with SF.

I don’t think Value Village has any aisles with those price tags.

Update: It appears that Imanaga will sign with the Cubs.
