Lots of people assumed the Russian forces were at least competent and that their equipment was roughly equal to NATO's. Now it seems that the only reason they haven't lost is that Ukraine has no air force. They could still pull the rabbit out of the hat if the get the F16's soon enough and in enough quantity. Ukraine has had lots of chances to observe Russian gear, tactics and leadership and may well figure it is a fight they can win with the Bradley's versus a T-90 crewed by a bunch of guys who perhaps have little training, having come to the tank from the Russian Navy.
