Good perspective, Lex. Near as I can tell, based upon regular season statistics, 49ers have the advantage on offense; 1st in passer rating, 3rd in total rushing yards, 4th in ypc, 2nd in offensive TDs. KC is 17th, 19th, 13th and 17th in those four stats, respectively.
ON Defense, KC has 4th best pass defense, 49ers down to #14. Niners are third on run defense, KC is 17th. Net turnover margin, 49ers are 8th in the league at +10 and KC is 28th at -11.
On special teams, KC has the better kicker; 100% on XPs, 94.3% on FGs, 87% touchbacks (third best). Moody's numbers are 94%, 84%, 58%. I had read that Shanahan preferred that the other team run the ball back on kickoffs, and that went fine until we gave up a 70 yard runback, so Moody has been striving for touchbacks. KC had the third worst return average (28 yards), 49ers were 18th worst (23.3 ypc)
On kick return, KC was 5th worst (20.1), 49ers were 12th worst (23.3).
On punting, the net was within a yard of each other, but 1/2 of Wishnowsky's punts died inside the 20, only 1/3rd of the KC punter's punts finished inside the 20. Punt returns were about the same (SF 8 ypc, KC 9.3 ypc).
Should be fun. I think the 49ers win a close game, assuming their run defense gets its act together.
