BTW, FanGraphs projects the Giants at 80 wins, Baseball Prospectus at 81 wins (rounded down from 81.3).
PECOTA Standings - Baseball Prospectus
Depth Charts - Projected Standings | FanGraphs Baseball
FanGraphs has Dodgers at 92 wins, Diamondbacks at 83, Padres at 81, and the Rockies at 64. Top six NL teams are Braves winning the NL East (97), Dodgers winning the NL West (92), Cardinals winning the NL Central (83), and the three wild card teams project to be the Phillies (85), Diamondbacks (83) and Padres or Cubs (81). Giants and Brewers currently projected to finish one game behind the last wild card slot.
Baseball Prospectus is similar. Same three division winners, they project Diamondbacks (85.8), Phillies (83.9) and Mets (83.5). Giants are out by 2.2, at 81.3 projected wins.
Giants #7 in NL in both projections. Presumably Chapman, a backup shortstop and another pitcher would put them over the top.
