I just read the total amount the Giants have spent this year on free agents is
$ 280M

We may not think the right players. But that’s effort

One more is my strong guess

To date, SF has signed five major league free agents:

Soler
Hicks
Lee
Murphy
Cobb (exercised club option)

Their contracts total $217,250,000.  I’m not certain who else is included to reach the $280,000,000 figure.  

Last year, SF signed 7 free agents:

Haniger
Conforto
Rogers
Manea
Pederson (excercised qualifying offer)
Stripling
Jackson 

Their contracts totaled $193,150,000.

As one can see, it isn’t how much you spend, it is on whom you spend.  

Zaidi has failed to move the organization closer to the standard established by Sabean.  He should be fired.
